The Most Common Garage Door Repairs
Spring Replacement
There are two primary spring systems for garage doors: Torsion springs and extension springs. Torsion springs are located directly above the garage door (on the inside of your garage) and provide smooth and even operation. They raise and lower the door safely, as they counterbalance the weight of the door and lift it. If you have two springs, they work together as a pair. Extension springs run parallel to each track on both sides of the door. Extension springs work independently of each other. In operation, they wobble back and forth, causing uneven wear on door parts. Both sets of springs can crack or break, needing replacement. Be carful! Tensioned springs are very dangerous to handle.
Broken Cables
The pulley and cable system is a complex portion of your garage door operation. Cables can break and come off pulleys. A cable by itself is inexpensive, but repairing it yourself is dangerous and complicated. We do not recommend you trying to fix this.
Garage Door Openers
Your garage door opener is a complicated machine that opens your door. Something you don’t notice it until it stops working. Several moving parts make up your garage door system, and the electric opener is an integral part of that. There are several reasons why a garage door opener may stop working. However, tinkering with an otherwise simple issue may make things more troublesome. We service and repair all garage door opener brands.
Opener Remotes
Along the same lines, garage door opener remote controls can also stop working properly from time to time. Various types of opener remotes are available, including push buttons, key switches, and keyless entry systems. All of these have their own unique potential for failure.
Weather Seal Replacement
The weather seal is the rubber stripping that keeps out rain, leaves, and bugs. This keeps stuff from entering that thin opening between the bottom of your garage door and the floor. It is an inexpensive, but necessary, fix when your weather seal becomes eroded or damaged. Homes in harsher weather climates will need to change their weather stripping sooner than houses in milder conditions.
Panel Replacement
Now for the outside of the garage door, panels can get bumped by cars, bikes, you name it. They can bend or warp if there is a larger structural problem affecting them. Damaged garage panels are more than a cosmetic issue, so it is advisable to consult a professional to know when you need garage door panel replacement.
Unusual Sounds
If your garage door suddenly develops a grinding sound, it may be a torsion spring issue. A popping sound indicates some paneled sections are not aligned. In any case, unusual noises need to be investigated by a professional before the problem gets serious.

When a garage door roller jumps off the track, it’s not just a minor inconvenience. This is one repair job that must be handled by a professional, fast. Because a door off track can fall on someone and cause serious injury.

Sagging doors indicate an out-of-balance garage door. The springs on this type of door can snap, causing the door to fail.
Slow Opening and Closing
Delays in opening and closing can mean the hinges, rollers, or tracks are sticking and need lubrication. A qualified professional is needed if this delay does not resolve after lubrication.
